This product really does work! My daughter has VERY CURLY hair. I used this brush to see if it would straighten it, and it did a good job. All I did was put her hair into sections, apply a light oil, and brushed each section just like I would with a regular brush. I have used a flat iron on her head before and using this product is a much better experience.

This is why I prefer this over a flat iron:

-When I used the flat iron, I had to use a brush with it which took more time and my daughter would become very impatient. With this, I'm brushing her hair as it is being straightened, so there is no need for one.

-It doesn't give off that awful burning smell that flat irons sometimes give off as if it is burning you hair away.

-It doesn't make my daughter's hair "stick straight". When I would use a flat iron, it would create a type of "stiffness" in her hair with no volume. Because of the way that this product is made, It make her hair look more "flowy" and "light weight".

Lily Aldridge To Wear The $2 Million Fireworks Fantasy Bra

Supermodel Lily Aldridge has been tapped to wear $2 million in jewel-encrusted lingerie at this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show later this month.

The 29-year-old is set to wear this year's "Fireworks Fantasy Bra," which was designed by Mouawad Jewelry and features more than 6500 gems in 18-karat gold.

The fashion house made the announcement Monday morning on its Instagram page.

"Thousands of diamonds. 18K gold. $2 million. Introducing the 2015 Fireworks #VSFantasyBra, worn by @lilyaldridge & designed by @mouawadjewelry. Watch them light up the #VSFashionShow runway Dec. 8, 10/9c on @CBS," the company wrote on Insta.

With the start of the NBA season underway, NBA fans across the country are lining up to play fantasy basketball. The two most popular formats being used include season long fantasy leagues and daily NBA fantasy contests. Both formats are available online through popular sports sites like Yahoo.com, NBA.com, DraftKings.com and FanDuel.com among others. Each format requires a different approach, which provides a little something for players of all experience levels.

NBA Fantasy Leagues

For years now, fantasy sports leagues have been run for the benefit of managers who want to manage their own team through the rigors of an entire season. While most leagues are played for fun, some league commissioners will organize leagues with an entry fee and prize money being distributed at the end of the season.

The process starts with an organized draft. The most popular draft format is the standard "snake-draft" where a players' draft position is determined by random draw. For returning keeper leagues, the draft positions might be determined by the manager's placing in the prior season. Over the past few years, auction drafts have increased in popularity. With this format, each manager is given a bankroll, which is used to bid on players until their roster is full.

These contests are usually designed and posted by one of the contestants who then open up the entry process to any contestant who would like to participate based on the contest's setup. First Book in Tamil describing life of Bodhidharma

Baba Bakruddin, a budding writer captures the life of Bodhidharma and the significance of Buddhism

If you are a philosophy lover, pick ‘Bodhidharmar’, a compilation and speculation into the life of the Buddhist philosopher and saint Bodhidharma. The Tamil book written by Baba Bakruddin, a physics student of Madura College, Madurai was launched recently in the city. “It’s not a biography on Bodhidharma, but a narrative coupled with explanation.

It’s in fact impossible to write a biography on Bodhidharma and many authors have failed before, as there are not many reliable evidences about him,” says Baba Bakruddin. “Information about the saint is available only in bits and parts. I have tried to assimilate all the research and have arrived at a cumulative suggestion.”

The book details various aspects and sects of Buddhism and throws light on ‘Zen Buddhism’ introduced by Bodhidharma. Bakruddin’s interest in Bodhidharma came from his visit to Cochin when he found the fishing nets similar to the ones in China. “Later, I found that there were many links between China and South India. And the research led me to Bodhidharma, a saint said to be Tamil King who travelled to China and started ‘Zen’ religion,” says Bakruddin.

“When I started writing the book , I felt there was more to him than just being a Tamilian. I have touched upon the various facets of Bodhidharma’s life, the places he visited and stayed and the important events that happened. I have given explanations and references to all these chapters. It took me two years to complete it.” The book has five chapters and 11 sub-heads spanning 114 pages.

Bakruddin has referred to Chinese and Japanese literature and feels that the account on Bodhidharma in the former is much reliable than the latter. “Chinese works portray Bodhidharma as a noble man but Japanses writers have glorified him as a god-like figure with magical and supernatural powers,” says Bakruddin.

“Bodhidharma has always been exaggerated. Even the claim of Tamils that he was a Tamilian is debatable as he is said to be a descendant of Pallavas. And Pallavas are not Tamils. There is also a speculation that Bodhidharma could be Kalabhra, another non-Tamil dynasty.”

Watching the film, ‘7aum Arivu’ made Bakruddin write the book. “This is my first book and it came as a series in Kizhakku Padhipagam’s online paper ‘TamilPaper.net’.”

Bakruddin, who quit engineering to pursue his love for writing is currently working on a narrative travelogue and a bilingual novel that will be released in English and Tamil. ‘I am learning Urdu, Hindi and Arabic and will also be writing books in all these languages in the future,” he says.

I've owned some type of Dustbuster/handvac for the last twenty years and I don't think I've ever ever had one that I didn't hate. Too little suction power, not enough charge time, the suction nozzle is awkward to use, and the batteries are always dead after a couple minutes.

I can keep them plugged into the wall all the time, but that kills the battery and wastes electricity. I have found it much more effective to just use the suction hose on my upright, even though that means lugging my vacuum around. So I decided to see what is new in handvac technology and if they have improved at all over the last ten years. Fortunately, I can say that they have.

The Black and Decker 14.4v Lithium Ion DustBuster is the same handvac as the Black & Decker CHV1410 Dustbuster 14.4-Volt Cordless Cyclonic Hand Vac except it contains a Lithium-Ion (LIB) battery, whereas the standard CHV1410 contains a nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd) battery. If you're trying to decide between the two devices, I would recommend this Lithium-Ion model due to the advantages of the battery:

1. Higher energy density - this means that the LIB battery can hold more energy per volume. In this case the CHV1410L holds about twice the amount of energy as the CHV1410.

2. Greater power density - this refers to bursts of power the battery is capable. It works well when combined with the higher energy density mentioned above.

3. No memory effect - this is something you might have noticed with a Ni-Cd battery. These batteries work best when you fully discharge the battery and then recharge it. With a Dustbuster, you're almost never going to do this. You'll use it for a few minutes then put it back on the mount to charge. This can sometimes product a memory effect, where the cadmium inside the battery forms crystals and the battery will hold less of a charge. A LIB battery does not experience a memory effect.

4. Non-toxic - Ni-Cd batteries are toxic and classified as hazardous. LiB aren't, so disposal is much better for the environment.

LiB do have a couple small disadvantages, but in this application and with the frequent recharging the Dustbuster will see, I feel that it is definitely the right choice. Not to mention the toxicity factor alone makes me feel better about using this type of battery.

USE AND OPERATION - I evaluated both the CHV1410L and the standard CHV1410 at the same time to see what the real difference was between the devices and how the battery affected them. The main thing I like about the CHV1410L does have to do with the battery. It will supposedly hold a charge for up to 18 months. I can't confirm if this is true, but the first time I had it, I gave it a full charge and then removed it from the power source and let it sit uncharged for 30 days.

When I tried it out, it seemed to be completely charged and worked great. With my previous Dustbuster, it would have been dead after two days. I did the same 30 day test with the CHV1410. Although it did still have a powerful charge in it and seemed to work fine, I did notice it was less powerful than the CHV1410L.

I tested this by putting two small Styrofoam balls in front of the Dustbusters at a specific distance, and then gradually moved the Dustbusters closer to the peanuts until they sucked them up. In repeated tests, the CHV1410L grabbed the ball slightly before the CHV1410, demonstrating more power. For the remainder of my use and testing, the two units performed the same.

The main thing I noticed about using the Dustbuster is how powerful it is. I was not expecting much out of it, but it performed almost as well as my upright. It has a narrow opening on the front of it to concentrate more of the power. That little green piece on the end pulls out and extends the dustbuster so you can get in hard to reach places.

This worked great for cobwebs and getting dust from under furniture like sofas and dressers. The crevice tool also has a small brush attached to it. I tried it out on a sofa covered in dog hair, but did not find that the brush helped much at all. It was just as easy to use it without the brush. The only way I see that the brush might be handy is for my ceiling fans, which allows me to press down on the crevice tool without pressing into the blade. Otherwise it's not very useful.

CLEANING - The CHV1410L is very easy to clean. It's bagless, and uses a plastic filter. You just press in the tabs and it unlocks and you can shake it out into a trash can. One problem I did have with it is that dog hair seemed to collect in the filter holes and I had to pull these out by hand. But I've used a lot of bagless vacuums like this with these types of filters and I would say this is one of the easier ones to clean.

Overall, I'm very happy with the CHV1410L and plan to use it for almost everything I was using my upright for, which will save me a lot of time not having to drag it out of the closet and plug it in. The only real negative I have with it is that it's fairly loud, which I guess is to be expected for something so powerful.

I generally don't leave reviews especially if one has such high ratings and thousands of reviews. However,I felt compelled to review this one because when I was deciding to purchase or not, I didn't see my particular concern listed, which was: can or will it effectively clean our 10-year old grout? My husband always did the mopping because his strength lended itself to being more effective and faster (plus I hated mopping and the mess that came with it!).

Unfortunately, I lost my husband unexpectedly a few months ago and realized I would now be the one mopping. I decided to once again research the steam mops. I have always been frustrated with how awful our grout looks, through 3 children now grown and two labs and 2 cats, plus a husband with forever muddy, dirty work boots. I have to say, this mop deserves its 5-stars even with a few minor concerns (see below).

First, the pros:

1. Easy to put together-takes maybe a minute including the time to grab the screwdriver to put the handle on.

2. Price is beyond reasonable, in my opinion

3. Love never having to buy cleaners again!

4. Steam is great - heats up super quick and if general cleaning can cover most of my 800 sf of flooring in the about 20 min that the tank lasts (which was a concern because it used to take a good hour with a reg mop!).

5. Changing/refilling the water if you need to is as easy as pulling it out of the handle and taking the lid off. Takes about 30 seconds to complete the process and be back to mopping.

6. Cleaned my grout!!! Granted I used the little scrubber brush on the back of the unit (which I do wish were a little longer), but I carefully pressed on it with my foot so it would "scrub" and reach down in the gap, and in two min time it went from black to nearly new clean. I expect over time it will only improve. *note- see below for warnings/concerns with regards to this aspect

7. Floors were clean and almost instantly dry even with 2-3 run overs.

8. You can let it "sit" on an area particularly hard to clean and it will also sanitize after about 15 seconds

9. It gets super hot - yes, it really does steam steam (much like a new iron does when you press the steam button)

10. No residue left on the floor.

11. Worked on hard tile as well as hardwood floors.

12. Light -easy to carry upstairs, etc. And has a decently long cord so you don't have to keep unplugging room to room.

Now, not sure these are "cons" but perhaps more of concerns/cautions to not be misleading I any comments above:

1. When using your foot to press down on the scrubber be careful! The steam can burn your toes (yes, it gets that hot - which is good!) and can also make them wet so you could slip/fall easily. It took me some practice but so far have still found it the preferred way to go - though perhaps a scrubbie by hand could work as well if you really wanted to go that route (or had kids in need of "making amends").

2. While I said above that the floors remain relatively dry even after a few swipes, I need to mention that if trying to deep clean the floors can become quite wet esp with the highest steam setting. This is in part due to the high steam level combined with the mop head getting saturated and no longer able to absorb the water or dirt.

At this point you can either have spare mop heads or follow up with a towel or other mop to dry the door and pick up the loosened dirt (easier than actual mopping as the hard part is done!). Again this isn't a defect simply a matter of practicality and really only an issue if you become obsessed as I did once you see the dramatic difference you can achieve with this thing! Regardless it can become quite slippery and even a little "messy" so wanted to mention.

3. If you leave the steamer on a spot for too long, at least with my porcelain floor, the flooring retains that heat for some time and can burn your feet if you're not wearing shoes (just a matter of prob 5-10 min but again, yes it gets that hot!). Not a big deal, but surprised my feet when I happened to step on them - not a big deal for adults, but if you have crawling or walking toddlers maybe good to know (however on the plus, they now can literally eat off the floor without concern due to the sanitizing properties).

4. While I did use tap water, you really should (and I will be going forward) use filtered water. I just didn't have any on hand and didn't want to run out because it was Christmas Eve.

5. While it fits beside toilets and gets in small spaces, getting the grout right up next to cabinets or walls, etc will prob require some old fashioned getting on ground and using some "Goo Gone" cleaner and scrubbing. Note, it will clean up against the walls, just not easy to scrub there.
